Gun violence
As the name suggests, gun violence is gun-related violence that is committed with the use of a gun. Gun violence acts may or may not be criminal. Criminal violence includes suicide or attempted suicide, homicide, assault with a deadly weapon – depending on the jurisdiction. Non- criminal violence includes unintentional or accidental injury or death. Military and Para-military activities are also included in gun violence statistics. Gun violence is a modern-day global human right issue. Acts of gun violence threaten the most fundamental human right – right to life. Gun violence is an alarming, urgent, multifaceted, complex problem that requires an evidence-based, multifaceted solution.
